After getting fired from his job, Rahul (R. Madhavan) works part-time in a hostel. The hostel receives a surprise inspection by an ambitious inspector, Seema (Sonali Kulkarni). He is forced to take charge of the hostel to protect it from getting closed down by Seema. Seema and Rahul slowly get attracted to each other and start living together in the same flat in Mumbai and fall in love with each other. However, Seema is married to a man who lives in the same building as them. The question arises that Rahul and Seema's love is fake since they are already married. Rahul has to break off his relationship with Seema and live with his wife until she gets divorced from her husband.
The story revolves around three men, Shahid (Arjun Kapoor), Naseer (Vasundhara Das) and Abu (Jay Bhanushali). Shahid and Abu, who work as actors in a small-town theatre group meet Naseer, an ex-army soldier on their way back from Mehrangarh Fort. They receive an invitation from Mehrangarh to perform there for the first time, but are reluctant to go because they feel that this is not their place. However, after meeting Naseer's wife, Ayeza (Alia Bhatt), and her family they agree to go. They arrive at the fort and begin rehearsing, though they are completely unenthusiastic. From here on out, all three of them begin to grow fond of each other.Each share their own personal stories with each other that ends with how they got into theatre playwriting in the first place. Anurag Kashyap of "Bollywood Hungama" rated the film 3/5, where the story is said to be okay but falls down on its execution. However, he praises the performances of all the cast members. He feels that Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat makes a beautiful appearance in an item song which is said to be memorable for her. He also praises the cinematography and editing of the film.
